                            Book Review

Set in the year 1939, this fictious mystery novel by Agatha Christie will keep you guessing until the end!

Ten strangers (Emily Brent, Antony Marston, Justice Lawrence Wargrave, Mr and Mrs Rogers, Vera Claythorne, Philip Lombard, General Macarthur, Dr Armstrong and Mr Henry Blore) are invited to stay in a luxurious and modern house on soldier island, a desolate rock off the Devon coast, England. Their mysterious host, U.N Owen, however never shows up to the island, and the ten strangers are left to themselves.

A gruesome nursery rhyme hangs in each of the guest's rooms, bearing an ominous warning of death for each of them. Unassuming, the ten strangers dine peacefully together, until they are each accused of a heinous crime. Then one by one, the guests at soldier island begin die, then the party realizes that there may be a murderer amongst them. But who is it? and who's their next victim?

It's a race against time, each person for themselves until they figure out who's been committing the murders... and why.

Using surprisingly unique methods to each murder, the readers mind is engaged throughout the story. Hints about the guests past are constantly dropped, letting the reader judge the characters for themselves. The warning from the nursery rhyme keeps up the tense and untrusting atmosphere in the house, with Christie's characters all acting in the most realistic manner possible in such a situation. Suspicion is generously thrown from one character to the other before the culprit is revealed, making it a very thrilling read.

It's a gripping story you simply can't put down without finishing!

Although there's a long stretch of conversation between the first and second murders which could have been shorter, the book picks up pace, as one by one, the suspects narrow down. The books describes, in some detail, the many murders and injustices committed by the characters, however, these didn't strike me as particularly shocking or scary, but this should be noted by anyone who wishes to read this book.

I recommend this book to everyone who loves a good thriller and is into solving mysteries. A great book for someone looking for mental stimulation while quarantining. The language and storyline can be easily understood by people of age 13+, to whom I'd highly recommend, And Then There Were None to. Finally, to give it a rating, I'll give it an 8.7/10.
